Beginning in high school, I studied guitar for five years with jazz musician and instructor Billy Bauer before attending Berklee College of Music (B.M. 2003) where I began to take a serious interest in composition as well as improvisation and studied with Bret Willmott, Jim Kelly, Richie Hart, Mick Goodrick, Dave Santoro, and others. In addition to performing and composing, I am currently a graduate student at Queens College CUNY, where I will receive my certification as a public school music teacher before completing my Master’s Degree. I am also an accomplished choral singer (baritone and countertenor). In fact, my first exposure to music was as a boy chorister in the Choir of Men and Boys of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City (www.cathedralmusic.info). I sang as a boy soprano at the Cathedral between the ages of 7 and 13. After returning to New York from Boston, I now sing baritone in the Men’s section of the same group. I’ve composed numerous pieces of music including liturgical works for unaccompanied choir and a song cycle for countertenor and organ setting an English translation of Pablo Neruda’s poem White Bee.
