I have been interested in art since I can remember. My grandmother was a watercolor painter and as a child I often watched her paint and draw and tried to imitate her techniques.
I took after-school art classes in drawing and pottery throughout my childhood and my parents encouraged me to write and illustrate stories. I completed the international Baccalaureate in Switzerland in High school and won the school art prize. This encouraged me to continue pursuing art at a higher level and I enrolled in the Nova Scotia College of art and design where I completed a degree in fine arts. I sold paintings and taught part time in Nova Scotia and then studied art education to gain my certification in teaching.
I moved to Hong Kong in 2001 and taught art at the high school level for 5 years at an international school. This experience enabled me to travel all over Asia, exposed me to a wide variety of Asian art which has influenced my own art. After years of working at the high school level I am happy to work with younger students and experience their enthusiasm and creativity in the art making process.
