Art Programs that Rock!

More than just music lessons… we offer art lessons, too!

You'll find the following art lessons, music lessons and band programs here at our Syosset, Long Island location!

The Open Art Studio.Summer 2012

Get your hands dirty while creating paintings, drawings and cartooning masterpieces in the styles of Picasso, Matisse and Cartooning Artists. In addition to the art classes is the Lincoln Center field trip** which also includes a recording studio tour and concert in Bryant Park. Your child can join us for an unlimited amount of art classes throughout the summer. Try painting one week and cartooning the next!

Ages: 3-16

Schedule: Tuesays 4-6pm & Saturdays 9:30-11:30

Cost: $250 (includes LIRR train fare for field trip)

** Lincoln Center field trip is for ages 7 and older

 

Petite Picassos... ABC’s of painting & drawing

picassosAges 3–5, 5–7

Learn the basics of art and drawing based on age level in this weekly hour-long class. Colored pencils, acrylic paint and oil pastels are just a few of the mediums you'll work with on your way to a number of creative projects!

Once you've completed the art lessons in Petite Picassos, move on to Monet & Matisse art lessons, for ages 8–10, where you'll further develop the skills you've already learned!

Monet & Matisse... Painting with expression

monetPrerequisite: 1 year art class experience
Ages 8-11

Monet & Matisse is for those who have mastered the basic skills of painting and drawing. This program encourages students to develop a style of their own while also referencing trend setting artists.

Pencil, acrylic, pastels, ink and charcoal are just some of the mediums students use in this weekly, hour long class

 

Portrait & Figure Drawing... life like qualities on paper

Learn the advanced steps in portrait and figure creation with art lessons that utilize pencil, charcoal, pastels, ink and paint. From self-portraits to gesture drawing and animal prints, the possibilities are endless — and you can learn and practice them all right here, with a little inspiration!

 

Mickey, Bugs & Calvin... cartoon & comic creation

If you like to mix cartoon characters with your art lessons, this is the program for you! Whether you prefer recreating well-known figures or long to develop your own character, we provide the hands-on training, materials and motivation you need!

 

Animated Video... your characters come alive!

animationAges 9–11

Requirement: 1 year cartooning experience

Once you've covered the basic art lessons in cartooning and your character is designed, learn to make 'em move and groove with our Animated Video program! You'll learn storyboard creation, set design, claymation and video production skills that will come in handy as you enter the world of movie magic!

Shutterbugs... digital photography

Turn your snapshots into photographs! This class teaches camera basics such as how to use shutter speed and aperture as well as composition, lighting and color.

 

Printmaking... you could be the next Ed Hardy

printmakingAges 10–13

Is your child the next Ed hardy? Find out by learning screen printing and design your own artwork and print on shirts, pants and other clothing. Also learn how to airbrush, carve and print into linoleum and metal blocks to create one of a kind stamps that you can keep forever.
